On Monday I walked through Munich while the rain poured down and cleaned away the weekend debris. Today, I downloaded the photographs from my camera and started choosing which photos will be used for my digital destruction project. From the shoot, I will pick four of my favorite images print them and then erase the original raw file. I want to see if this limitation on reproduction will make my digitally created artwork more precious to me.
This goes beyond photography. All photographers, even ones who use film, can reproduce their images in multitude and I want to get away from mass production of artwork because I’m tired of mass produced personal items.
I love technology and photography but I’m tired of the disconnect technology has created to this art form and the artists who use it.
